Figurative Work

I am fascinated by people, there is something about figures in a picture that says so much to me without the need for words. What happened? Where are they? Good memories? It is a subject that I want to explore more of. Sometimes I like to paint from old black and white photos and bring colour in to the photo, making them come alive, other times it may be an image in my mind that springs in to life as I paint intuitively and let the painting speak to me as my imagination goes into overdrive.

I combine representational art with a mix of abstract, and always colour. Colour is so important to me and will always play an important part in all of my paintings, it conveys feelings without words. I love to paint in both acrylics and oils and tend to start with an abstract acrylic background and then paint with oils, which bring a richness to the colours and texture that I create using many layer of paint.
